Don't Talk to Strangers

I'll weave you a quick little tale of an event that happened recently.

I was waiting outside the exam hall, bracing myself to consume two cans of Red Bull, purchased five minutes earlier, in a desperate attempt to maintain some form of awakenness during a three hour exam. I see someone I know, so I pocket the can for a minute and we talk about how we both drank too much beer and didn't manage enough studying. The other guy smokes, and he had been chain smoking like a fiend for the past 24 hours.

Well, anyway, this old guy wearing a leather jacket... Well, let me tell you about his appearance. From the shoulders down, he looked like he was pretty presentable, not formal or even business attire, but you could get away with what he was wearing in most places. From the shoulders up, he looked like he had been sleeping in a toilet. He walks up to us with a hand-rolled cigarette in his mouth, mumbling.

My friend gives him a light. A little smoker's bond of understanding or something.

We both assumed that he would go away after his cigarette was lit. We both assumed wrong. He decided that he wanted to tell me something. What he didn't realize is that incoherent mumbling isn't an effective form of communication. Now, I tried my hardest, but all I could make out was "I'm not English." Which I replied to with, "good, neither am I."

Then, he made that infamous hand gesture:

...the finger-gun. A formidable gesture on its own, but when he began to randomly point it at people and make shooting noises, I began wondering how the hell I can get rid of him. It would be a shame if he actually shot anyone, but lets be honest, the fact that he wasn't shooting me, kind of makes it a good day, you know?
