Snow Days

So, I just happen to be awaiting a potential snow day tomorrow. A freebie 3-day weekend. What does that mean? I am making an assumption of a crucial nature, I am assuming that I won't have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning, which for me is about 11am, in order to go to class.

Due to this assumption, it is safe to assume that I am making no efforts to prepare for my classes. Not that I ever do the reading, but tonight, I am not even going to bother to ask the Asian kid what the chapter was about. I don't care what the professor might think -- tomorrow is a snow day even though it hasn't been declared yet.

You can also be sure that I have no intention of setting my alarm clock. I consider it a Ghandi-esque maneuver. Non-violent resistance of a sort, so that, even if they fail to cancel my classes tomorrow, I still cannot be guilted into getting out of bed. I refuse to fail. In fact, the thing I am most motivated to do right now is to remain unmotivated.

Much like winning a bet on the Super Bowl underdog, a snow day is an exhilarating experience, one that those of us blessed enough to go to school in the frigid northeast are often privy to. I feel sorry for those of you who matriculate in Florida, California and the other warm places. It certainly sucks to be you.
